Having been enthused by Nigel's posts on HDR I thought I'd give it a try myself using a trial version of Photomatix Light. The attached files show the original (best I could get using Elements) and my first attempt using Light. Any comments?

The tonal range and distribution seems to be much improved - obviously, this is what HDR sets out to achieve. My only negative comment would be that the grass looks a bit bright where it is open to a fairly dark looking sky.

Hi Phil,

Looks good. Big improvement on the first. Grass is a wee bit bright but that could be adjusted in post HDR mannipulation. Good job thou. I wonder how long it will be before judges say " oh this is one of those HDR images" Still who cares judges always take a few months / years to catch up with current trends.

Thanks for the comments Laurie and Nige. I've played around with the settings a bit more and here's the result, taking into account the over-bright grass. Any better?

Phil,

That's much better.  It's a cracking image.
