As Monish has been brave enough to put up an image I thought I might also try and benefit from members wisdom.

John,
Not too sure if I can offer wisdom, but you are welcome to my amateur comments!
There is a problem with the horizontal level of the far horizon. I guess you levelled the image with the foreground wall, and lost the background horizontal. I would have liked to see a higher/more forward shooting position to lose the wall, and gain some beach, where the beach to water horizontal would not be critical. Alternatively, good ol' Photoshop has a distortion feature to get both horizontal.
Laurie.

Thanks Laurie. I have tinkered as you suggested and it has imrpoved things a bit. I certainly take the point about moving closer to include more beach. I'll try agian next time I'm in Mallorca!

I like the overall composition - as Laurie says the horizon is slightly off level and you could tweak it in PS - you could also try darkening or even cropping off the wall altogether & straightening the horizon. The beach umbrella is well placed - you could perhaps try making more of this by enlarging it a bit.
Sounds like the excuse you need to go back to Majorca again !
Well done

A horizon is always a horizon and human eyes wants to see that level. Here the horizon is not straight creating an uncanny feeling. The umbrella is too much on the right hand side of the frame almost going out of the frame. Not a very exciting image.

Hi John, this is my first time on here.
I like your photo, when I looked at it I thought wow wish I was there and could take a noce photo like that.
You can see it was a hot hazy day, I like how you have framed the image with the tree and the beach umbrella ballances it out lovely in my opinion.
