Forum Guide

First of all, if you have not already registered you do need to before you can browse or contribute to the discussions on the Forum (see the section below on registering). This Forum is only available to club members.

It might be a good idea to print out this page so you can follow the instructions easily whilst you are in the Forum. If you have any problems, just email Phil (see Contacts page).

How do I use the Forum?

  1. Look along the top of the screen. At the very end of the menu bar you’ll see Forum. Click on the CPC Forum item in that menu. You are now into the Forum.
  2. You will now have reached the Forum Home Page. (Look at the word ‘Home‘, top left.) Under the heading General are various things you might want to write about. For example, if you want to say something of general interest, click on General Discussion. (For now, we’ll assume that’s your choice.) You’re almost there!
  3. You want to start a new topic? On the right, along the dark blue bar, one of the tabs says New Topic. Click on that. You’ve arrived! (If you just want to reply to someone else’s comment, click on it. Again, along the dark blue bar, one of the tabs says Reply. Click on that.)
  4. Now start writing. The symbols along the top can wait. They are simple tools by which you can do things like making some words in bold type (click on the ‘B’) or italic (click on the sloping letter I). You can also make a Smiley or some other symbol. When you’ve finished, click on Preview (at the bottom) to see how others will see what you’ve written. If you want to make a change, just click Edit and make the changes. Then click Post and it’s done.

What else do I need to know?

Nothing, really! There’s lots more you can do, like receive notifications when topics are added or updated, but that can come later. Start using the Forum and don’t worry about anything. We’re a very friendly bunch and we welcome all our members with open arms.

What should I write about?

That’s entirely up to you. Maybe you have some suggestions for future meetings, or you have a computer problem. You might even like to chat about the judging in a recent competition!
