Chesham Photographic Club celebrates 50 years

This year Chesham photographic club celebrates its Golden anniversary; the club was founded in 1963 by Joe Scrivener ARPS, along with a group of members from Amersham Photographic Club. The first meeting was held in September 1963 at the Progress Hall in Essex Road and has changed venues around the town several times before moving to its present location in The Whitehill Centre. The club continues to meet every Tuesday 8-10pm between September & April.

Since its inception in 1963 the club has held its annual exhibition in the Town Hall and continues to do so every October. It offers an ideal opportunity for the club to showcase members work and raise it’s profile within the town. Local shops and businesses have again been immensely generous in donating items for the tombola and these include: Bedworld, Blue Haze Arts & Crafts, Boots, Brazils Cafe, Broadway Barbers, Broadway News, Brown Sugar, Chesham Cameras, Confident Computing, Cuisine Delight, Domesco, FMY Chemist, Faith Hair, Fit 4 Less, Flix Hair & Beauty, Gold & Jewels, Hatfield House, Healing Point, Health Right, JPS Stationers, Klass Kuts, M&Co, Magic Hands Skin Care Centre, Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe, Optomeyes Opticians, Orbit Press, Perfect Pitch, Pet Essentials, Poppins Restaurant, Pretty Nails, Principal Hairdressing, Rumbles Pantry, Smart Cartridge, The Flower Box, The Pink Orchids, Total Look Home & You, Turner& Browning Opticians, USA Diamond Nails, Waffle House, Waitrose and L-Collections of Berkhamsted.

This year’s Annual Exhibition will be held at the Town Hall on Saturday 26th October 2013, 10-4pm. In recognition of our 50 year history, expect to see some older, historical photographs of Chesham. The winning pictures from the “Schools’ Photographic Competition” sponsored by the club will be on display and the prizes will be presented by Town Mayor Councillor Mark Shaw. There will also be refreshments and home made cakes for sale.
